Hair removal equipment makes poultry slaughter more worry free

2024 05/24

As the Chinese New Year approaches, I wonder what impressed you deeply about it? When I was a child, I witnessed a scene of slaughtering pigs at my grandfather's house, and I was deeply impressed by the way I shaved my fur during the process. The butcher held a sharp knife and clattered on the pig's body. Of course, it was not this scene that shook the author, but the residual pig hair on the finished dish that left a deep impression on the author. Later on, I grew up a bit and every year when I came home, my mother asked me to pluck chicken feathers. I felt cold and tired, but I was still afraid that I hadn't cleaned them up. Seeing chicken feathers at the dinner table was really unforgettable. In fact, the task of plucking poultry can be completely replaced by a hair removal machine.

Due to the different technical requirements for the size of livestock and poultry in the household, there are various types of equipment on the market, such as chicken hair removal machines, sheep hair removal machines, pig hair removal machines, and rabbit hair removal machines. In addition, it can be divided into spiral, drum, cylindrical, etc. according to different structural composition methods. Compared to manual hair removal, the application of mechanical equipment not only reduces manual labor and improves labor efficiency, but more importantly, the hair removal effect is better. Nowadays, slaughterhouses are becoming increasingly concentrated, and the demand for hair removal equipment is further increasing.

When dealing with small poultry such as chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, and quails, fine hair can be a headache. According to the author's understanding, previous cylindrical hair removal machines were unable to handle fine hair. Therefore, there have been vendors on the market using asphalt, rosin (both are industrial agents) and other auxiliary treatments for fine hair, which poses a threat to consumers. The current round hair removal is equipped with wolf tooth shaped hair removal rods on the original basis, which better solves the problem of inability to handle fine hair. Some companies have also developed poultry hair removal machines with five or seven axes, which use the rolling of five or seven hair removal axes to remove poultry hair. The spacing between the hair removal axes of this hair removal machine is adjustable, which can to some extent reduce the rate of poultry damage and improve the hair removal effect.

Generally speaking, the hair of small poultry has commercial value, so the consistent hair outlet of small poultry dehairing equipment is more advantageous for slaughtering enterprises. In addition, some small poultry hair removal equipment specifically states that it cannot be cleaned directly with a water spray pipe and needs to be cleaned and dried with a sponge, soft cloth, etc., which to some extent increases the workload of operators. It can be considered that the equipment comes with its own cleaning mode and drying program.

With the further development of society, the slaughtering industry will continue to move towards mechanization, centralization, and environmental protection. As an important member of slaughtering equipment, hair removal equipment should also move towards these directions. After hair removal, a built-in filtering system can be used to collect and reuse it. In addition, many companies have achieved full automation of their hair removal equipment, further reducing the pressure of talent shortage in the slaughtering industry and making hair removal easier.

Of course, the hair removal of poultry is actually influenced by many factors, such as the temperature during the previous soaking and scalding process, which has a significant impact on the hair removal process. If the temperature is too hot, the hair removal equipment can easily remove the skin and meat together, while insufficient temperature can make it difficult to remove the hair. Therefore, the author believes that these issues also need to be considered in the further development of hair removal equipment, in order to produce equipment that better meets market requirements.
